With the hip shaking harmonies, luscious lyrics, and beats that make your body rock, many of today's female MC's have continued to pave the way in a male dominated industry with their lyrical skill set. Now female rappers dominating the charts and it is an exciting time for up and coming artists. The representation of different cities, backgrounds, and skills have been overflowing in the last couple of years. From Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B to Latto, women have been claiming their seat at the hip hop tables of today. However, just as these mainstream artists have hit big, there are still a few that are climbing to the top. Let's dive deep into the the underground rap scene and highlight these dimes who continue to get it out the mud and hopefully we can expose them to new listeners and broaden their fanbase!
Were taking a trip to the Midwest. Saint Louis, Mo. has been known for some of their rappers such as Nelly, Chingy, J-Kwon, and more. However those were the old days and now, the women in the city have been releasing bangers for quite some time.
Seeming to pop up and dominate the rap scene, we have Sexyy Red. From her chart dominating hits over the last couple of years, many are still learning that Sexyy is no stranger to the spotlight.

Known from her viral covers of "1000 Miles" from the famous White Chicks movie and more, Sexyy is no overnight sensation. Now with over 15.5 M listeners on spotify, over 97.2 M streams from her top 5 songs off of her debut album, this north side rapper is definitely speeding on her way to the top with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With cosigns from Hip-Hop heavy hitters like Drake, Lil Durk, Da Baby, and Nicki Minaj, Sexyy has definitely made her mark in the game.
Taking it to the east coast, we have Lola Brooke. Her hit single "Dont Play With It" has produced over 34.4 M streams and continues to stay in rotation. Representing Brooklyn, NY, Lola has hit the scene hard.

Now, two years since the release of her single, the artist has recently signed with Arista Records. According to Arista CEO David Massey, “Lola is the rare talent whose presence matches her message. Her music is larger than life, but her vision is just as powerful.” Go stream her latest single, which features Bryson Tiller, "You". Sampling Foxy Brown's "Get Me Home" feat. Blackstreet, Lola continues to pay homage to female MC's, especially from the home team. Fans are still anticipating her debut album, which we know will be nothing to play with.
Also representing NYC, we have Ice Spice. Though she is new to the scene, Ice has been co-signed and received features from many hip hop greats, including none other than Nicki Minaj. Ice is able to channel 2012 Nicki with the way she playfully combines her hip-hop skills and lyrics with viral pop beats which can be found on her singles " In Ha Mood“Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Princess Diana,” from her 2023 debut EP "Like..?".

Her cooler than ice personality both via social media and real life, Ice has captivated over 10M followers via Instagram and TikTok. However, social media isn't the only place that she makes strides. With over 30.4 M monthly listeners on spotify and over 1.4 B streams from just her top 5 songs alone, franchise endorsement deals, and more, its no doubt that this ginger bombshell has exploded on the scene and has no signs of going anywhere anytime soon.
